Frequently Asked Questions
If you or someone you know lives outside the United States and would like to purchase a test kit, we are unable to ship directly to them.
Reasons:
Due to varying laws, customs, duties & tax costs related to shipments that we cannot pre determine upon shipment.
If you, or someone you know lives in the United States, we can ship the kit to them and they can send the test kit back to you. Therefore, the order must be shipped to a residence in the United States, and that person is responsible for shipping the kit directly to the person outside the United States.
BreathTrackers will not provide a return label in this shipment, since it will be your responsibility to pay for inbound and outbound customs, duties, taxes, and shipping costs. We will of course analyze your test once it comes back and send you the results via e-mail or postal mail.
A cautionary note on international orders!!!
Once you collect your samples, the test kit MUST be returned back to us promptly! The breath samples within the tubes are only valid for up to 14 days total. If you do not feel your test kit will make it back in 14 days, then please do not purchase a test kit as your results may not be valid.
BreathTrackers will ALWAYS send you the results from all the breath samples that you send back to us for analysis. If your analytical report comes back with missing information or inconclusive results, we will provide you an explanation of the reasons why we were unable to process the sample or why your information is incomplete.
Common reasons for incomplete or inconclusive information are:
1. Not all samples returned back to us for analysis.
2. Sample tubes labels are not identified properly.
3. Breath samples in the tubes were not collected properly.
Depending on the issues (if any) we come across, and the level of breath gases in the tubes (in the case of a poor sample). You physician may still be able to determine a diagnosis on your results. We will always provide you the information we were able to collect, even if it's not complete.
A "Baseline" sample is the "starting" point of your test. This sample is collected prior to mixing and drinking the substrate inside the kit.
Basically we need to know what your body produces "normally" prior to drinking the substrate in the kit. Once the substrate begins to travel through your digestive system the sample you collect after the baseline will help us you and your physician know how your body reacted to the substrate.
Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) 3 hours total = 10 samples collected (Baseline, 20, 40, 60, 80, 100, 120, 140, 160 and 180 minutes)
Lactose Malabsorption 3 hours total = 4 samples collected (Baseline, 60, 120 and 180 minutes)
Fructose Malabsorption 3 hours total = 4 samples collected (Baseline, 60, 120 and 180 minutes)
- The "Baseline" sample is collected immediately prior to drinking the challenge substrate in the test kit.
- Collecting each sample takes about 5-10 seconds.
Inside the testing kit is a return label that you will affix to the outside of the box which will reseal the box to keep all the contents inside, and the prepaid shipping label and instructions will allow you to properly repackage the kit to come back to us for analysis.
If you purchase more than one test kit you may receive multiple return labels. Either put the test kits all in one box and use ONE label, or return the kits as you complete them via the separate labels.
Place the kit and all the contents, including the collection device (for proper disposal) back into the kit. Then put the kit back into the box we sent you the kit in. Reseal the box and follow the enclosed shipping instructions form for the proper way to prepare and get your package to the carrier.
If you feel the need to send us the kit faster than standard FedEx Ground, contact us at 1-414-645-3860 so we may e-mail or fax you a new label for shipping. Any expedited shipping will be charged to your credit card and you will be required to have the credit card number available when placing the request for expedited shipping.
BreathTrackers is only responsible for kit shipping costs that use our return shipping labels.
